BOSTON-The effort to revitalize East Boston's waterfront area is edging closer to reality with the state environmental approval for the redevelopment of Pier One. The $100 million project involves 585 housing units and is one of two large developments proposed here.
BROOKLINE, MA-The Brookline Courtyard by Marriott Hotel opens at 40 Webster St. in the Coolidge Corner area, a few miles from Downtown Boston. Charlesbank Capital Partners and New Castle Hotels funded the development of the eight-story, 188-room hotel.
MARLBOROUGH, MA-Borders Books & Music will open a 21,000-sf store in the Shops at the Pond shopping center this September. The store, which will be located at the intersection of Donald Lynch Boulevard and Bigelow Street, will be the Ann Arbor, MI-based company's 12th in the state.

BOSTON-The Boston Redevelopment Authority decides to delay its expected vote on the $200 million 490,000-sf mixed-use project proposed by for the Longwood Medical Area. The city says it wants to reexamine affordable housing and transportation issues.
BOSTON-Fleming Cos., the grocery distributor that filed for bankruptcy at the beginning of the month, has asked the bankruptcy court to reject three of Boston-based Heritage Property Investment Trust, Inc.'s leases. Heritage has asked the court for payment of the rent the Lewisville, TX-based company owes.
NORTH HAMPTON, NH-Lafayette Place, a 119,882 sf shopping center located on Route 1, secures an $11 million first mortgage. The center is anchored by Shaw's supermarket and Home Depot, which is on a separate parcel.
REVERE, MA-The Suffolk Downs racetrack sells a 30-acre parcel it owns on Route 1A to Stop & Shop supermarket, which along with New England Development, a Boston-based developer of regional shopping malls, plans to build a 250,000-sf retail center.
SEEKONK, MA-Seekonk Square, a 363,000-sf shopping center, gets a first mortgage of $13 million. The center, which is owned by S. R. Weiner & Associates, is nearly fully leased to tenants including Target, Kohl's and Home Goods.
