AUSTIN-The state capital has more than one reason to celebrate these days. In a give-and-take deal, city council has given its blessing and $25 million in incentives to Vignette to construct its world headquarters downtown. Vignette too has some giving to do.

HOUSTON-CMC Realty Group of Houston is teaming with Dallas-based Today Realty Advisors on a 150,000-sf tech center in The Woodlands. The state-of-the-art project, bearing a June 2001 completion, is tailored to data and call centers.

LIVERMORE, CA-Calpine Corp. is proposing a natural gas plant near here that would supply electricity to more than one million homes in the East Bay and San Joaquin County. The company's proposal to build in San Jose was shot down last month.

SAN ANTONIO, TX-The city's A. Ace Towing has escaped a shutdown by its owner, 1-800-AutoTow Inc., based in Lake Worth, FL. The local operator has a new owner while several of its counterparts have been dealt a deathblow.
