CHICAGO—Let’s face it; it’s still a male-dominated industry, despite the initiatives being made by such firms as Colliers International. That’s about to change, as you’re about to learn when you view this exclusive video interview from SIOR’s Fall World Conference here.

The push is being spearheaded by Angela West, SIOR’s immediate past president and vice president of CBRE, and Samantha Turner, senior real estate manager for Weyerhaeuser Forest Products and newly named chair of IAMC. West and Turner have shaken hands on a joint-venture initiative to leverage their own corporate positions as well as the power and reach of their associations to spread the word of the opportunities inherent in the commercial real estate industry—specifically to a more diverse audience.  That initiative will embrace women, people of color, the LGBT community and other minorities.

Watch the video and hear:

  • About a sponsorship program that will kick off the initiative;
  • About the advances the industry has made and the road it has left to travel; and
  • How educational opportunities at the college level will naturally advance the cause of the initiative.
