COPT To Develop $32M Data Center

COLUMBIA, MD-Corporate Office Properties Trust is developing a 102,842-sf building for its major investment grade tenant, Northrop Grumman Commonwealth Enterprise Solutions Center, in the 113-acre Russell Regional Business Technology Park. The facility is currently under development in Lebanon, VA; located in Russell County, the $32-million facility will be located some 20 miles from Interstate 81.

The one-story building will be used for both Northrop Grumman’s operations and the Virginia Information Technologies Agency, with which Northrop Grumman has a contract. The plans, which COPT released today in a statement, call for the new property to house a Tier II+ data center and call center that will be used as back up to a facility in Richmond. COPT expects to deliver the building this time next year.

This is the second property that COPT has developed for the contractor specifically to support VITA. In June, COPT announced it would develop for Northrop Grumman two office buildings totaling 193,000 sf in the Meadowville Technology Park, which is located in Chesterfield County south of Richmond. In a statement released at the time, COPT estimated that building costs would run about $54 million. This building is expected to be complete in June 2007.
