Arizona Treasure Goes to Auction

PHOENIX—One of Arizona’s natural treasures will go to an online auction February 27, according to Douglas Johnson, managing director of CBRE Auction Services. The historic Castle Hot Springs resort once played host to such families as the Astors, Roosevelts, Vanderbilts and the Wrigleys.

Opened in 1896, the 210-acre property is located at the base of the Bradshaw Mountains, five miles from Lake Pleasant Regional Park. Castle Hot Springs is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and home to some 550 hundred-year old palm trees, a125,000 gallon swimming pool, tennis courts, a 4,800 square-foot administrative building, and 2,000 square-foot, three-bedroom guest house with maintenance building and horse stables. And its crowning glory—the 118-degree natural hot spring that produces 180,000 gallons of pure water per day, which were believed to have mythical healing powers dating back to the 19^th century.
