Transwestern philanthropic cause Transwestern plans to recommit to Make-A-Wish for another year.

HOUSTON—In less than a year, Transwestern raised more than $184,000 for Make-A-Wish, allowing the charity to fulfill the wishes of 18 children with life-threatening medical conditions. The resounding success of the partnership has prompted Transwestern to recommit to Make-A-Wish for another year.

To support its recommitment, Transwestern plans to work with its tenants, vendors and owner clients to organize local fundraising events during the month of May, as well as participate in Walk for Wishes events throughout the year.

“Giving back to causes near and dear to each of us has always been an important part of Transwestern’s culture,” said Chip Clarke, president │ Americas. “By uniting in support of a common purpose, we experienced an outpouring of creativity and camaraderie across geographies and service lines. The response from our team members–both financially and through their time and talent–makes me enormously proud to be part of the Transwestern family.”

Transwestern’s fundraising efforts contributed to granting wishes for Ruth, a 14-year-old girl from Falls Church, VA, and Yasaar, a 14-year-old boy from Houston. Ruth’s wish was to visit Australia, courtesy of Make-A-Wish Mid-Atlantic, where she toured the Sydney Opera House, relaxed on the beach and met a koala. Yasaar’s wish to see “Hamilton” on Broadway is currently in progress.

In addition to a nationwide casual dress day where team members paid $5 to wear jeans to the office, Transwestern offices held a multitude of creative fundraising events, including happy hours, stair climbs and other activities. Transwestern’s national partnership with Make-A-Wish was recommended by Transwestern’s emerging leaders council, which comprises 22 of the firm’s up-and-coming professionals.

“We have received overwhelming support for our continued Make-A-Wish partnership from our 1,300 team members in asset services across the country. Collectively, we’re working on individual building events, employee incentives as well as joining with our national service partners to raise further awareness of Make-A-Wish and our shared mission,” Robert Bridges, executive managing director of management services, tells GlobeSt.com. “We hope to increase the visibility of Transwestern’s commitment and join forces with our valued partners and clients to drive widespread support for Make-A-Wish and the deserving children it serves.”
