Mixed Optimism Among CRE Execs

NEW YORK CITY—A majority of commercial real estate executives remain bullish on their own market segments while also maintaining that certain segments are poised for decline. Those are among the highlights of a survey of CRE executives conducted for CIT Group, which found mixed levels of optimism for this year.

Among the 201 executives surveyed online for CIT by Forbes Insights in February and March of this year, 52% said their own market segments were “strong” or “very strong,” 47% agreed that the industry is recovering and 44% predicted significant decline in some segments. Just over 60% characterized their current market posture as opportunistic, describing today’s market conditions as a mixed bag of both challenges and opportunities.
