A number of smaller lease deals, construction starts, promotions and awards were announced in recent weeks. Here’s a roundup of these items.

LEASES

HACKENSACK, NJ—Law firm Cillick and Smith renewed its lease and expanded by 1,100 square feet for a total of 3,000 square feet at Court Plaza North. Located at 25 Main Street, the class-A office property is owned and managed by Hackensack-based Alfred Sanzari Enterprises.  The transaction was negotiated in-house by Stephen C. Jennings, vice-president of leasing and marketing. Daniel Foley of Savills Studley represented the tenant.

DENVILLE, NJ— Joan Cenicola of NAI James E. Hanson brokered a 3,330-square-foot lease on behalf of Wells Fargo Bank for a retail building located in a shopping center located just off Route 53 at 123 East Main Street in Denville, NJ. Tamara Enterprises owns the building. Neighbored by businesses such as Acme, Rite Aid, Pavolo Pizzeria, Kumon Math & Reading Center and Jane’s Nails, the bank will round out the development to offer a complete set of retail services in one convenient location.

MARLTON, NJ—Leor Hemo, executive vice president of WCRE exclusively represented retail center owner Davis Enterprises and tenant Float of New Jersey in the 1,800 square foot expansion of their existing store at The Allison Shopping Center in Marlton, NJ. Allison Shopping Center recently had significant exterior capital upgrades, including an entirely new store front façade and design.  Allison Shopping Center is located on the northern side of Route 73 just off Route 70 and is fully occupied.

CONSTRUCTION

BARNEGAT, NJ—Construction on the new affordable rental community for seniors (55+) Cornerstone at Barnegat has hit the halfway mark, according to Walters Group, which is developing the project to LEED® and ENERGY STAR® specifications. The 70-unit building is scheduled for completion in mid-December 2016.

MT. ARLINGTON, NJ—Woodmont Properties has opened Woodmont West in Mount Arlington, NJ, the company’s latest Northern New Jersey luxury rental apartment community. Situated on 55 acres in Morris County with easy access to Route 80 and other major highways, Woodmont West is 37-percent leased.

EXECUTIVE MOVES

Philadelphia, PA —Dana Schneider has been named operations manager at Avison Young in Philadelphia. She will now focus on assisting the Philadelphia market brokerage teams with accounting, revenue, legal, general office coordination and human resources. She had previously served as marketing assistant and operations coordinator since joining the firm in 2013.

AWARDS AND HONORS

BASKING RIDGE, NJ—Woodmont Properties has been honored with 22 Awards of Excellence at the Metropolitan Builders & Contractors’ 32nd Annual Banquet. The evening’s most esteemed honor, “Grand Community of the Year” was awarded to Woodmont’s West Side Lofts, a mixed-use community located in Red Bank, NJ’s burgeoning Arts and Antiques District.  Woodmont Station at Cranford received the “Community of the Year” award and was named “Best Rental Community.”

FAR HILLS, NJ—More than 200 commercial real estate professionals came out in support of the fight for healthy babies and honored Mitchell E. Rudin, CEO of Mack-Cali, at the recent New Jersey March of Dimes Real Estate Award Reception and Pynes Putting Challenge. The annual event, which took place at the United States Golf Association in Far Hills, NJ, raised a record amount of $280,000 for the March of Dimes.
